A Mom Is Born: Emotional Wellness for Mothers

preparing for your fourth trimester

No doubt you have imagined how your pregnancy will end – you are almost there! Yet despite women talking about “nesting” and needing to put their feet up, pregnant women are busier than ever – caring for older children, sorting through shower gifts (from multiple showers!), moving or renovating living spaces, and preparing for professional maternity leave. You may wish there were more time to feel connected to your baby, or that you could spend some time emotionally exploring this time of transition. And what are your thoughts about, you know, actually giving birth? And what about those first few weeks at home that people tell you are sleepless and really hard? This workshop addresses different elements of “the fourth trimester,” with the aim to make those early weeks with a baby smoother, more nurturing, and less stressful.
Covered topics:
– envisioning your best self in labor, no matter what kind of labor you have
– normal newborn sleeping and eating
– creating (and editing!) your support network so that it actually WORKS for you
– normal postpartum emotions (or why does a TV commercial make me cry?) and what it looks like if you need more support
– changes in relationships with: your partner, your mother, your friends, your older child(ren).

– staying grounded and intentional, especially if you feel like you are barely surviving.
