The new year is often filled with the resolution to do more and do it better: more exercise, more realxation, more self-care. Here's what we, as mothers, know: the time will never just fall into your lap. In our lives, something else always takes precedence.
So while you may be craving a weekend away or a 2 hour massage, its ok to settle for less than that. In fact, I recommend it! Disappointment isn't always a good motivator, and neither is constant dissatisfaction. So instead of something big that needs a lot of work to arrange, what if you carved out just 20 minutes a week? One mom might meditate. One mom may wish to rekindle her love for reading. Another may miss nurturing her creative urges. Whatever it is you choose, commit to to doing it for yourself for 17 weeks.
Over 4 months we will meet weekly (via phone or video conference, or in person if you are local to Boston for a total of 17 sixty minute sessions ) and look at the area of your life you would like to deepen or enrich. We'll collaborate on small, manageable goals (really -- accomplished in 20 minutes!), keep you accountable and on track, and if there are blips in the road we'll study them to see what lessons are there. This program is creative; it taps into your desire for change. This program is loving; it asks you to consider your own needs. This program is rebellious; it requires you to buck the myths that busy is better and that mothers are selfless. This progrom is communty-oriented; participants will have access to an online space where they can support one another. This program is a commitment, because I'll let you in on a secret: it's not really about what you choose to do. It's about finally taking care of yourself, and this is a first step. Are you ready?
